The one in Amsterdam

Last saturday I met up with Hans in Amsterdam. We met 7 years ago in Salamanca, where we both did in Spanish language course. Every now and then we meet for lunch or dinner, and in between those meet ups, we write old fashioned postcards. If you stumble upon photos of pretty stamp on this blog, they are often ones I received from Hans.

Amsterdam Central Station, designed by Pierre Cuypers,
the architect who also designed the famous Rijksmuseum.

Normally, we meet in the city of Utrecht but this time we choose Amsterdam. Hans was born and raised in Amsterdam, so it was nice to go there with someone who knows the city well. For lunch I had roti from Suriname, with potatoes, string beans and spicy sauce. A dish our old neighbour used to make, and I haven't had in years. It tasted just as good as I remembered!

I think this door already appeared on this blog some time ago. But I think it's pretty enough for a second feature. It's a door of the Oude Kerk ('old church'), which is the oldest building in Amsterdam (founded in 1213, according to Wikipedia). Located in the very touristy red light district.

I love all the pretty architectural details in Amsterdam, like this boat

De Waag (weigh house)

Loved this pair of balloons :-)

As a dessert, Hans treated me to a bonbon.
(I choose dark chocolate with a mojito filling)

The one with the things I liked this week (136)

Lunch and a walk in Amsterdam with friend H. We hadn't seen eachother for a long time, so lots of catching up to do. I loved the trainride to Amsterdam, so I had some time to get some reading done.

A happy mailbox and a hungry me! Thanks Diane :-)

Seeing this car on my way to the mailbox. I think it gets rustier each time we meet

I managed to get one of the plants killed I got a couple of weeks ago. Poor thing. My neighbours do have green thumbs though, and I can enjoy the goodies that are on their balcony, like this one.

Made me smile, never knew that's what they were supposed to look like!

Enjoy your sunday! I'll have breakfast somewhere good, and the plan is to visit our local museum. What are your plans for today?

The one with the DaWanda Winter Lovebook

Surpise! A couple of days ago I received a package from Germany. I was sent a couple of the new DaWanda Lovebooks. One of my printed tote bags is in it, it made it into their collection of awesomeness for winter!

You can find the online edition through this link

The one with another market

One and a half week ago, me and mum attended the 'Zelfgemaakte' (Homemade) market, in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch. The market was part of an art festival named Artibosch and was located at the foot of St. John's Cathedral, which is a beautiful spot. We had a bit of a different set up from the previous market, with a different display for notebooks (at the side of the stall) and we took along some printed baby onesies and a number 1 printed prize.

For future markets I would like to have a banner with my shop name made, and a display for totebags. I need to cook up something that's easy to take along, and can display lots of different bags. I took more bags with me than the ones pictured, but there was no room to show them.

We did enjoy ourselves, but sales-wise the market wasn't a big success. Hopefully the next one will be better. We were feeling pretty cold during the whole day, even though it's still only september and both of us were wearing winter coats. I was even thinking about going shopping for a hat! The next market will definitely be one that's taking place indoors. I am thinking about making some cards especially for the holiday season.

I don't like having my picture taken, but here's proof that I was really there ;-)

I did a quick walk across the venue

Our neighbour for the day's stall, who is a seamstress

Loved this display and the brightly coloured dreamcathers

The one with the things I liked this week (133 & 134)

Last week I couldn't find the time to make a things-I-liked-this-week-post, so here you have it, two weeks squeezed into one post. Here are some random photos.

Seen at an after work walk

This work of art made me smile

Sounds like summer (if I'm correct, I 'stole' these from Diana)

A hearthwarming note

I hate doing dishes, so this recipe is right up my alley

And these popsicles for dessert please!

The one with a market and a quick shop update

This sunday I'll be taking part in my third market ever. It's in the city of Den Bosch, where I studied business economics and lived for 1,5 years (until I quit) (it took me quite a while before I realised that I prefered the lessons in law and marketing over the actual economics...) many years ago. My mom is a sweetheart and she will come along to help me out. The market is outside, and so far the weather predictions aren't very good.... As I am typing this, it's raining cats and dogs. Maybe a good thing, because the rain we are having now, can't be falling again on sunday, right?

This promotional squirrel is made by Studio WellWaar and more info about the market (in Dutch) over here

Shop update

I've been listing some new items lately, including the pretty pink paper (new quote prints are coming too!). Here's an update.

Hope you're off to a great start of the weekend. Today I'll be preparing for tomorrows market. What are you up to? Enjoy!

The one with a workspace

Today I wanted to share where I get some of my work done. Although I must admit that some of the internet en designing stuff happens in the livingroom too (I have the most comfortable of couches)! My workroom is usually not as tidy as it is now, since the room also function as storage, laundry and guestroom.

When I moved in, I very much disliked the wallpaper that the previous owners picked out (and don't get me started on the orange and brown-seventies patterned wallpaper in the bathroom). It definitely wasn't something I would have chosen, but I actually kind of like it right now (this light floral pattern, not so much the seventies print). Maybe the fact that I am cursed with two left hands has something to do with not changing it for wallpaper that's more to my taste.
It may not be as eastatically pleasing as some of the workspaces that float around on Pinterest, and there are some things that needs changes (like the so-and-so curtains, that just happen to not be in this picture and I need a bit more light for those dark wintery days that are on their way), but it's a place where I love being, and where I manage to get inspiration. I sometimes wonder if those superduper looking workspaces you see on the interwebs and in magazines are actually places where real people get real work done. Most of the time they look a bit too polished and perfect to me.

Do you work from home? What does your workspace look like, if you have ever blogged about it, please feel free to share in the links below, I love to have a look at where it is that you spend some of your days!
