The one with links to love

Hi there! Just a quick post for now, things are busy at work! Currently I am making Christmas cards, wrapping up orders for my Etsy shop, and people are finding their way to my brick and mortar shop for cards and presents. I just wanted to say 'hi' and share some likeable linkies. Hope they'll bring some joy to your day :-)

The one with the vintage cars

Since a while my obsession with doors, have been somewhat replaced with vintage cars (although I still like a good door once in a while). It seems that these babies have been crossing my path quite often lately. There happen to be some pretty cool ones in the area I live!

I am not alone with my love for vintage cars, each sunday a whole bunch of Instagrammers use the hashtag #asundaycarpic to accompany their vintage cars-findings. I love seeing what people post at the end of the weekend!

The one with vendors from above

This morning I came across these wonderful photos and just had to share them! They are taken by Loes Heerink from the Netherlands. Mostly, I am a big fan of black and white photography, but on cold grey-ish fall days like these, I can also appreciate bright colours :-)

The one with the Afrika Museum

Two weeks ago I visited the Afrika Museum with my mom. Although it's only a 10 minute car ride away, the last time I visited the museum, was over 20 years ago. It has a unique collection of both traditional and contemporary art from Africa. The museum consists of two parts, indoor and outdoor. Indoors were two temporary exhibitions, one with photographs from the Masaai in Kenia, and the other one was titled Mythical Animals. Outside, visitors can experience rebuilt African architecture, from several countries.

Part of the Mythical Animals exhibition

View from the museum to the main road. It was such a beautiful, warm and sunny day!

Not a part of the museum, but this could be seen from the outside part of the museum. We have absolutely no idea what it was, or how to get closer to it. I wanted to ask, but I forgot....

And some sort of selfie

The one with August

We are already a week into September, but I wanted to share some of the pictures that I have taken last month. Maybe you've already seen (some) of them on Instagram. August was a good month, although I wished there was a bit more sun! Supposedly a small heatwave is on its way, and I am looking forward to spending some time on the balcony, with a cold drink and a good book. Currently I am reading the Exiles Return by Elisabeth de Waal (the grandmother of Edmund de Waal, who wrote the Hare with amber eyes).

I see this shop window each morning when I leave my home to get to work. The bright colours make me start the day with a smile

As a kid I loved these tiny, colourful good luck dolls. The door was spotted on a walk from the bus station back home.

I love vintage curtains, and vintage cars. Wouldn't that little white guy be lovely to have for shop deliveries! I try doing most of them by bike, but when it's raining I take the car.

As you might know, cheese is one of my favourite foods. There aren't many cheeses I don't like! And watching bees doing their thing is something I can do for a long time. It's so soothing to watch them doing work.

I've never noticed this little tower on a school nearby. And how cute are these dudes?

The one with the radishes

Here's a quick and healthy idea for a side dish. It's super easy and perfect when you're in a bit of a hurry. What you'll need:

  • 1 avocado
  • 1 cup of cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup of radishes
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped cashew nuts
  • 2 tablespoons of good quality olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • salt and pepper, as much as you like

Chop, mix, and eat! Enjoy! Over here you can find more recipes, feel free to share some of your own favourites in the comment section below. I've been in some sort of a cooking rut lately, so I would be more than happy to get some inspiration and get to know what your favourite dishes are!

The one with tulle

How I found this video, I don't know. But it's most probably the result of some procrastinating... It's a 5 minute interview with artist Benjamin Shine. I've only known tulle from the tutu's, but apparently it can be turned into amazing pieces of art too, I've never seen anything like it! I love these kinds of videos, so if you know of other short films about artists (or maybe you have your own video) and their works, please feel free to share a link in the comment section below. Enjoy!

The one in Amsterdam

A couple of weeks ago I met my friends Hans and Alyssa in Amsterdam. The three of us know each other from a language course we did in 2008 in Salamanca. Hans is from the Netherlands and Alyssa is from the United States. She was visiting some big European cities last month, and one of them was Amsterdam. It was so much fun to see them again. I see Hans about two times a year, and he likes old fashioned mail just as much as I do, so we often exchange postcards. Hans also adds the most beautiful stamps from all across the world to his mail.

Before we met, I wanted to visit a store that sells all sorts of pretty paper and other crafty things. Been looking forward to that for some time. So I was pretty disappointed to see it was closed on sundays! I guess it must be about the only shop in Amsterdam that doesn't open its doors every day. Well, I do have a good excuse for another visit ;-)

This picture wasn't taken in a museum, but in the staircase of Zara! I didn't get to shop for things to get my DIY on, but I did treat myself to some of my favourite t-shirts from Zara :-)

Some of the famous canal houses

The seagulls are amazingly big in Amsterdam!

There's a bar in Amsterdam named Sherlocked. Talking about Sherlock, who else can not wait for the new season to arrive?

So, how are all of you doing? How summer in your corner of the world? Have you been on a holiday, or were any cool day trips taken? I'm curious to hear what you are up to!
