The one with the kitchen goodies

My kitchen is in need of a little lovin'. It has been calling my name for some time now. I'm not proud of it, but even though it's voice has been heard, I have been ignoring it. My kitchen is still pretty much the same since I got the key to my apartment 3 years ago. I promised myself to give it a makeover ever since. It did get a little bit of attention when I moved in. I don't know what the previous owners had been thinking, but one of the walls was a strange shade of bright orange. With orange not being my favourite colour at all, it was painted over in a bleu-ish grey. It's not really a space with personality (which reminds me of Karl Lagerfeld's quote: better a split personality, than no personality at all). Trying to get into the make-over mood and looking for inspiration, I searched Etsy for some items to cheer up a kitchen. Without further ado I present: the one with the kitchen goodies.

Do you like to give a new home a make over right away when you move in? Or are your intentions good like mine, meaning everything stays as it is? What kind of style are you digging? I like things to be simple and clean, with some colourful accessories. Maybe one of the walls might end up with a pop of colour. Have there been any home renovations or make overs at your place lately? I'd love to hear about your plans or experiences.

The one with peanutbutter and chocolate squares (that aren't squares)

You might have seen the result of this cooking adventure in a previous post (one of the ones with the things I liked). I've made this recipe by Nigella a couple of times, and changed the original recipe a bit. I prefer dark chocolate over milk chocolate, so I switched to amounts of those, I added a bit of honey and I stopped trying to make the perfect little squares that Nigella makes. I love how easy they are to make and that no baking is required. Oh, and they taste pretty good too!

What you´ll need for Nigella's peanutbutter and chocolate squares:

  • mini muffin liners

For the base
  • 50 grams of caster sugar
  • 200 grams of icing sugar
  • 50 grams of butter
  • 200 grams of peanutbutter (the smooth kind)
For the topping
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate
  • 100 grams of milk chocolate
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of honey

What you'll need to do:
Stir the ingredients for the base together with a wooden spoon. Fill each mini muffin liner with a small ball of this mixture. Slowly melt the chocolate and stir in the honey and the butter. Top each one of the liners with a spoon of the melted chocolate mixture. Put them in the fridge and leave them there for an hour.

This is what Nigella's perfect little squares look like. I gave up
hope to ever accomplish to make them look like that.
