The one with some things I came across on several walks and bikerides

Here are some pictures of things I came across last year, when walking or riding my bike. I believe all of these haven't appeared on the blog before, but are too good not to be shared. Hopefully they'll put a smile on your face. These discoveries sure made me laugh!

The one with the things I liked this week (102)

Just some random photo's from last week. I now see that I happened to have mostly liked food this week :-)

At the cooking club I was team dessert. On the menu this month was puff pastry with a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper, a thick slice of baked pineapple, and coconutcream & ginger icecream, made from scratch.

Sunday high tea with Mom and S.

Doing some windowshopping, love this banner!

On my way to dinner with E.

After lentil soup + a big bowl of fries, we had coffee and additional goodies for dessert

Hope you're having a great weekend so far!

The one with the super easy pompom frame DIY

Today a super easy DIY, that you can whip up in just a couple of minutes. This tutorial was also featured on DaWanda in Dutch. Have you been feeling crafty lately? In case you posted anything cool, please feel free to share in the comments below.

What you'll need:

  • Pompom trim
  • scissors
  • tape
  • photo's or cards

What you'll need to do:
Cut the trim, for each card or photo you'll need 2 x height and a bit extra, and 2 x width and a bit extra

Place the trim on the front of the card or photo and fold the leftover pieces to the back. Secure all four pieces of trim at the back of your card (or photo) with a small piece of tape

And done! You can hang these with a bit of double sided tape.

The one with likeable links

Set in the street is an ongoing art project by Justin Bettman and Gozde Eker. These two build eleborate sets of unwanted materials and furniture, mostly found in the streets. After shooting the photo's, the sets are left in the streets, so passerby's can take their own pictures.

And how about these caramel brownies with pretzel crust from Milk and Honey?

It has been ages since I've been to the ballet, and the Nutcracker is something I would love to see one day. Over at the Huffington Post is a selection of stunning photographs of this world famous ballet throughout the years.

The one with all the hats

The sunday after Christmas me and my friend R. decided it was time for a bit of a fieldtrip. It had snowed and the roads were very slippery, but that didn't stop us! First we had coffee and sandwiches at Credible (highly recommendable, you can have breakfast for dinner, woot-woot!) right across the road from the museum. After all the yummy food, we slid to the other side of the street, and started our visit with the exhibition we came for. One of the temporary exhibitions showcases a collection of hats, designed by Dutch designer Marianne Jongkind. I loved the different shapes, colours, materials and textures. Makes me wish I was more of a hat person, I would totally rock that merry go round one! In case you want to enjoy these hats, and want to pay the museum a visit, there is some need to hurry, it's up until the 11th of January.

Another exhibition showed how life was during WWII in my hometown Nijmegen. I didn't feel it was appropriate taking pictures at this part of the museum. There is a video made by the museum that gives an impression of what can be seen over here. The end of the exhibition was used to commemorate unidentified war victims. At a large table, you could take a sheet of paper and fold a boat, and add these to the other visitors' creations.

The one with a dance, a book and a lighthouse

This is what I've been listening to lately. Have you made any discoveries lately, musicwise? I would love to hear all about it if you did. Especially more upbeat and maybe summery, happy songs. Some might say the music I've been listening to right now might be a bit depressing or saddish. They sure do match the grey and cold weather we're having over here at the moment.

The one with the things I liked this week (100)(!)

Happy New Year! Hope you all had a wonderful time, spent with your loved ones. New Years' eve mostly is not my cup of tea. The last day of the year always give me a bit of a feeling of melancholy and I always feel like I should have accomplished more in the year that has ended. But for some reason, the blues stayed away this year and I had a great evening/night this time around: good company, laughter, delicious food, playing games, and watching lots of pretty fireworks. Usually I don't really make a list of goals, but I did make a bit of a list of things this year that I would like to do more, or do less:

  • more museum visits
  • be more spontaneous
  • eat more fruits and vegs
  • eat less chocolate
  • spend more time outdoors
  • taking more walks and bikerides
  • taking up Spanish lessons again
  • seeing glasses as being more half full, than half empty
  • try more new things, even if I think the chance of me failing at it are big
  • read more books
  • try out more new recipes (I'm in a bit of a culinary rut lately)

Do you make a list of goals? Would you like to share them in the comments below? I also snapped some pictures this week of things I liked.

Blue skies

Spontaneous brunch and a museum visit (more on that next week) with R.

What's a 'the one with the things I liked this week'-post without a good looking door?

Or a number?

I've been eyeing this necklace for a while, it was on sale now :-)

As was this scarf. Is there such a thing as too many scarves?
