My granny invited us to have a high tea tomorrow to celebrate her 91st birthday. Sunday I'll have dinner with a friend, and other than that I want to get some reading done. Do you have any special plans for the weekend? Hope you'll have a good one, see you next week!

The one with all the textures

The first weekend of this year, I visited Utrecht with my mom. I already did a post with pictures of the awesome things we've seen on our city walk. Our destination that day was Centraal Museum, one of their current exhibitions is named 'Monsters in Fashion'. Some of the monsters were actually creeping me out a bit, outfits made of leather, or pvc, some of them with scary looking masks. There were even two with the heads of the mannequins growing in dollhouses, that reminded me of the first season of American Horror Story. I was able to sleep at night though because some of the creations were colourful and were monsters of a more friendly kind. Mom also posted about our museum visit over here, I 'stole' the fifth photo from her blog.

The one with the door knockers

Two weeks ago, I blogged about a visit to Utrecht. On our walk through the city, we came across some wonderful looking door knockers. I love beautiful doors! Like to see more? I have a whole pinboard filled with beautiful doors of here.

The one with musical clocks

Last weekend me and my mom visited Utrecht. Our first stop was Museum Speelklok, which is the Dutch word for musical clock. Except those, it also has a large collection of musical boxes, organs and pianolas. Not the kind of music I listen to, and I didn't expect it to be my cup of tea, but I ended up liking it a lot. One of the reasons is because they served their hot beverages (Sheldon!) with monkey cookies. My mom blogged about this museum too. Oh, and the museum is situated in a former medieval church, which I think is kind of awesome.

After that we had a walk around the city centre and we ended up at the University Museum. Both of us hadn't been there before (to be honest, I never even heard of it before). If you're interested in science, this museum is definitely worth a visit. There's also a botanical garden, that was owned by the university and is now part of the museum and it's tended by a group of volunteers. Even though it's november, there was quite a lot to see.

The one with the things I liked this week (part 32)

One of my finds at the thrift shop. It may need a little make over.
Ideas are more than welcome!

On the left a small wallet, that was a gift. The two cards were in a book
that I found at the thrift shop.

The bees in our garden (we have a garden at work), are a constant
source of amusement, they are such hard workers!

Enjoying the sun on my balcony

Saturday afternoon was spent in Utrecht: a walk around town, good
company, fruitbeer and tapas

Today my guest blog's up over at MossyJojo !

The one with a little trip to Utrecht

A couple of weeks ago I visited Utrecht with my mom. Our destination was Museum Catharijneconvent. The building where it is situated, is a medieval convent and it's amazing. The museum shows the past and present of christianity in the Netherlands. I was a bit afraid it would have been a bit dull. Boy, was I wrong! The way the art was presented, interactive with touchscreens and videos, made it all very interesting. We wandered around for a couple of hours, and before we knew it, the museum was closing its doors for the day. We definitely want to go back, and we'll make sure we'll be there early in the morning, so we have enough time to see everything. After being all cultural and things, we wandered around the city and did a bit of (window) shopping. I've found some interesting things, like Dora hanging around in a tree.

I hate having my picture taken, and I normally make sure that I get away when I see a camera. Today I made an exception.

If you're interested, more info on the museum can be found here. Do you like museumvisits?
