The one with the washi tape card DIY

A couple of sundays ago I wanted to make something easy, without needing lots of supplies and without making a big mess. I thought it might be fun to make some postcards.

What you'll need:

• Paper the size of a postcard, I used kraftpaper
• washi tape, in different colours
• a black fineliner
• scissors
• a ruler (this one's an old souvenir granny got me from Germany over 20 years ago)

Start by sticking washitape to your paper, don't worry if you tape the paper to your workspace. This might even work in your advantage when you start the drawing part of this DIY :-)

Make stripes above and underneath the tape, using your ruler

Make diagonal stripes, or any other pattern that floats your boat. I didn't use my ruler for this part.

Peel your card of the table and cut off the washi tape.

Make rounded edges using a roll of tape, pen, and scissors

The one with the things I liked this week (55)

One of my goals for this week was to make some new brooches. I must have summer on my mind, because I ended up with an icecream cone. Our local 'gelateria' will open again next month and it would be great if the first scoops of icecream will be accompanied by sunrays. My mom got me a beautiful rose as a surprise after work. Talking about work, on my way to work I always see this black and red eyed dude, but I've never taken the time to get of my bike and take a picture of him, until last saturday. As you might know I love sending and receiving old fashioned mail* and this card and gorgeous stamp are from Vatican City. Lots of time this week was spent watching the Olympics. The last photo is actually my Christmas washi tree. Or what's left of it. I've also made some changes to the lay out of this blog. It's not yet what I have in mind (I blame Blogger, but it just might as well be my computer skills), but it's slowly getting there where I want it to go. What have you been up to this week?

The one with the plant pot DIY

In my 'things I liked this week post' from last friday, I already introduced you to my very first houseplant. We have been living together for two weeks now and it's still alive! The brown plastic pot-thingy it came in, wasn't very appealing, and was in need of a replacement. Apparently, winter isn't the best season to go shopping for a plant pot. I wasn't able to find a nice looking pot in the store, or any pot at all for that matter. So I whipped up something myself from things that were already in my home. So it was a very low budget DIY project. Now, that's my kind of project! And not having to leave the warmth and comfort of my home was a nice bonus.

What I used:

• scissors
• washi tape
• an old tin
• a piece of oil cloth (a left-over from a previous DIY project)

What I did:
Well, not that much actually. I basically did some cutting and sticking with tape. I think these pictures don't need any explaining.
