The one with the mail art

The documentary 'making mail' is about mail art and was released at the end of last year. I know, I'm a bit late to the party.... It's just over an hour long and it's filled with all sorts of loveliness, enjoy!

Do you like watching documentaries? If there's a good one you want me to know about, please feel free to share in the comments below.

The one with beads and clothespins

The last DIY that appeared on this blog, was over three months ago. I think a new one might be in order by now! With these longer days, I feel more like actually doing things, opposed to those days in winter, that are mostly spend in couch potato mode. So prepare for more DIY posts! I love sending and receiving mail. The newest ones get displayed somewhere around the house, and I thought it was time for a little project involving mail.

What I've used:

  • 40 wooden beads (1 centimeter)
  • 4 wooden clothes pins
  • 75 centimeters of baker's twine

Start with laying out your beads and clothespins, to see how they'll end up (especially if you are using beads in different sizes or different colours). I decided they worked best for me with 5 beads, a clothespin, 10 beads, a clothespin, 10 beads, a clothespin, 10 beads, a clothespin and ending with 5 beads again.

Make a loop by making a double knot on one end of the twine, as pictured

Start beading away!

The edge of the twine can be hidden in the first bead

End the same way you started, by making a loop

Et voila!

I was on a roll, and made a couple of these puppies. Have you made something cool lately? Please feel free to share a link in the comments below. More DIY's can be found over here.

How has your week been? We've had quite the weather for this time of year, although we've been seeing loads and loads of rain (those clouds should be empty by now!). This weekend isn't full of plans, except for an appointment to get my hair cut. I'm still considering getting bangs. Are you a fan of bangs? What should I do?! To bang or not to bang. That's the question....

Hope you'll be having a wonderful weekend. Anything special planned for saturday and sunday? See you next week!

The one with World Post Day (and a lot of stamps)

Happy World Post Day! I blogged about this special day last year, and I thought it would be fun to do a round up of all the stamp-photo's that have been up on the blog since I've started this adventure almost two years ago. Be warned, there are quite a lot of them! Some of them are truely tiny works of art. Some might say I'm a bit of a nerd, getting all excited over stamps. If you're a stamps aficionado too, I hope you'll enjoy this post. Cheers, this one's to World Post Day!
