The one with two threes

Of the things I don't like, celebrating my own birthday is somewhere at the top of the list (not quite sure which one is the winner, but top contenders for the coveted number one spot are definitely my own birthday, getting up early, spiders, and winter). I do have mixed feelings about my b'day: on the one hand, I am grateful to be in good health and being able to add another year. On the other hand, I always feel that the year went by too quickly and I could have accomplished more. And 33... Does that sound old or what?

The day started with a morning walk combined with some grocery shopping (cheese! prosecco! pie!). I almost never buy flowers for myself, but I think I did deserve some on my birthday. So I treated myself to ranunculus, my favourite kind of flowers, next to peonies. I had some friends over during the day, and in the evening we had a snack food type of dinner.

Besides birthdays and spiders, I'm also not a big fan of having my picture taken. I did discover I made an accidental selfie though  :-)

How do you feel when it comes to celebrating your own birthday?

Can't wait for the temperatures to rise and eating lots of fresh fruits

Mandy's birthday is the day after mine, and we always celebrate with a pre-birthday dinner

 with hot cocoa for dessert

This post should be renamed to 'the food I liked this week', I celebrated Easter with lots of chocolate

The one with the things I liked this week (62)

Gorgeous Russian stamps.

I didn't really feel like visiting the thriftshop, but on those days I usually find the best treasures. Like yesterday.

My aunt found this box of old carbon paper. I love the design of the packaging.

A happy looking pedestrian.

And another happy looking guy

Today is my birthday. I do like parties and get-togethers with friends. My birthday though, not so much. I guess I feel like I should have accomplished more since the last one. Am I the only one who struggles with the birthday blues? On the other hand, an important part of most birthdays is food. And I happen to like food! A lot. There's birthday cake waiting in the fridge, tonight I'll meet up with friends to have Indian food, and my aunt invited me for dinner tomorrow evening. On sunday I might need to take a very big walk....

I hope you'll have a fabulous weekend!

The one with the new shoes

Last year I spotted someone wearing the most awesome pair of Converse sneakers. One half black leather, the other half panther print. I started searching the internet for a similar pair and found nothing alike. That was until I discovered that the Converse website offers you the opportunity to design your own pair. All excited, I started designing. You can pick a model, colours, prints, lining, stitching, laces... I felt like a kid in a candystore! That was until the last step: the people of Converse don't offer international shipping. So here I was, with a virtual pair of perfect sneakers, and no chance to actually getting them. A couple of days ago, I came across a pair that got close enough, and with some birthday-money left, I ordered them. No black leather, but I think the gold coloured stitching makes up for most of that.

The one with the birthday

For the next year I will be 31, and even though I am not particularly fond of my own birthday, I thought I might celebrate with a little Roald Dahl poem. Because, who doesn't like macaroons, balloons & baboons?

The one with the first birthday

My Etsy shop is one year old! I joined Etsy as a buyer three years ago and on february 24th of last year I thought I should give opening up my own shop a try. So far, it's been fun, I have learned a lot and I met some amazing people online. Part of the celebration yesterday, were Belgian chocolates.
