Gorgeous Russian stamps.
I didn't really feel like visiting the thriftshop, but on those days I usually find the best treasures. Like yesterday.
My aunt found this box of old carbon paper. I love the design of the packaging.
A happy looking pedestrian.
And another happy looking guy
Today is my birthday. I do like parties and get-togethers with friends. My birthday though, not so much. I guess I feel like I should have accomplished more since the last one. Am I the only one who struggles with the birthday blues? On the other hand, an important part of most birthdays is food. And I happen to like food! A lot. There's birthday cake waiting in the fridge, tonight I'll meet up with friends to have Indian food, and my aunt invited me for dinner tomorrow evening. On sunday I might need to take a very big walk....
I hope you'll have a fabulous weekend!
Happy Birthday Marieken!ReplyDelete
I wasn't too excited about my birthday this year either. But you're right about the food! I went out to eat twice this week and a friend baked me a cheesecake!
Love the happy pedestrian photo :)
I love cheesecake, especially when it's homemade :-)Delete
Ooo, I LOVE those mugs that you found! :) And happy birthday! xoxoxoxReplyDelete
Aren't they the sweetest? I think I might use them as a plantpots :-)Delete
Happy Birthday, Marieken!ReplyDelete
I'm not really into my birthday either but because I was conditioned not to make a big deal of it. I'm beginning to think we ought to celebrate while we can - life's too short!
Enjoy all the love that will be bestowed on you this weekend...and enjoy that big walk to work off all the calories ;)
I will, it needs to be an even bigger walk...Delete
Happy Birthday my dear! I know what you mean, each year sounds a little older which means I feel as though I should have accomplished more. But I think we really need to cut ourselves a break. If we're doing what we enjoy and love each and every day, then we are doing quite alright for ourselves. I love the quote, "It's great to be lost in the right direction." :)ReplyDelete
Thank you! I've never heard of that quote, I love it!Delete
Happy birthday, Marieken! I hope you get to eat lots cheese and other great food! Your Friday finds are great, as always--that smiley face pedestrian is classic!ReplyDelete
Thank you! I didn't get to eat cheese, but one of my friends gave me a gift card from our local cheese shop :-) So, eating of cheese will be done in the near future!Delete
The happy looking guys are so fun! I completely forgot about carbon paper! I remember years ago how we'd use it between paper in the typewriter. And correcting all the mistakes I used to make on both copies!ReplyDelete
Wasn't carbon paper an awesome invention?Delete
happy happy birthday!! after 21 the birthdays are no longer as exciting as they used to be, haha. one great quote i've come across, though, is "are you doing something today that will get you closer to your dreams tomorrow?" and whenever i think that it gets me really motivated to do something productive that day. little steps turn into big results in the end :) and im sure this past year was more amazing then you're giving credit for :)ReplyDelete
Messages on a Napkin
That's true about the 21 thing. I like that quote, and when I think about it, you're right about the past year :-)Delete
Happy birthday! Yes, I feel push pull about birthdays these past few years, but they are mostly good times since it's always a good excuse to see friends and go out to fun restaurants. I love those stamps btw - so gorgeous. Hoping you have a great time with you aunt!ReplyDelete
xo Mary Jo
Thanks Mary Jo, I like the seeing friends and restaurant part :-) And the stamps are wonderful, the ones we have over here are horrible compared to these Russian stunners!Delete
Happy Birthday! I get pretty contemplative on my birthday and can definitely be blue! I love those Russian stamps. They're absolutely gorgeous.ReplyDelete
Happy happy birthday, Marieken:) Much blessings to you!ReplyDelete
And yeah....I get the bday blues every year....sigh....good thing we have the food to look forward to, eh?
PS I love that happy pedestrian. We should all be like that:D
The food sure does make up for a lot :-)Delete
Oh, happy birthday for two days ago lovely! I know what you mean about the birthday blues. Usually I get them because I'm sad my birthday is over, haha. It souds like you've got some fun birthday plans though... enjoy the cake! The happy pedestrian photo made me laugh out loud. I love the look of your thrifting finds too, those mugs are super cute xxReplyDelete
Thanks Jess, the cake was delicious!Delete
You found some nice stuff in the thriftshop!ReplyDelete
Or I find lots of things, or nothing!Delete
Happy birthday to you! Fun pictures from your week. I love that pedestrian. Some years I struggle with birthday blues, but I escaped them this year. I think I've found my secret is to not work that day!ReplyDelete
I hope this was the last year of birthday blues, and that I can dodge it next year. Maybe the not working might help!Delete
Happy Birthday! I love those mugs and the happy guys on the street. I don't make a big deal out of birthdays either. I try not to look at life that way...what I have accomplished by a certain age or date because it really doesn't matter in the end. I just focus on trying to do work that is meaningful to me in some way and maybe making things around me a little better than they were before. :)ReplyDelete
Thanks Mary, and you are very right!Delete
Happy belated birthday! I'm not a fan of my birthdays so much anymore either. But I hope you had a wonderful day!ReplyDelete
Thanks, and it was pretty good!Delete
happy birthday! just had mine and felt the same way. i realized this year that i actually just really don't like birthdays, haha. though i really do like celebrating other people's days! looks like things were pretty happy for you this week--with those cheerful signs. i love that on"bad" thrifting days you find the most... usually when i get really excited to thrift shop, i find nothing!ReplyDelete
I pretend not to be really excited when I go thrifting, hoping it will make me find something, but it just doesn't work that way! And I do like celebrating other peoples' birthdays too.Delete
Lovely Finds! Happy (belated) Birthday!ReplyDelete
Hope u had a great time! Birthday blues sometime get on me too...but now I have learned get over it :)
Thanks, I hope I will get over it too :-)Delete
Oh boy! Why did I not visit you lately?!! I should have greeted you or made you feel special on your day. I was busy rushing work since I'm off to a week long break. But the truth is, I took home the work hahaReplyDelete
Belated Happy Birthday dear Marieken! Despite knowing you online and for a few months, I already consider you as one of my rare friends here in the blogosphere. I feel connected with you. :) Wishing you all the best in life! May you be showered with all the love, happiness, creativity and more beautiful places to see.
Happy Birthday and wishing you more too :)
Thank you Diane, I feel the same way. It is such a pleasure to know you, reading your blog and seeing all your yummy food picks. They always make me get the munchies ;-)Delete
Happy happy (belated) birthday, sunshine and those stamps look so cool. KissesReplyDelete
Your snapshots of everyday life are so whimsical. Love it!ReplyDelete
And happy belated birthday! I'm so sorry I missed it, but dinner with friends, especially Indian food sounds like a wonderful way to banish the birthday blues! I used to feel a little blue for the same reason, but now I just enjoy the day :)
