The one with the things I liked this week (62)

Gorgeous Russian stamps.

I didn't really feel like visiting the thriftshop, but on those days I usually find the best treasures. Like yesterday.

My aunt found this box of old carbon paper. I love the design of the packaging.

A happy looking pedestrian.

And another happy looking guy

Today is my birthday. I do like parties and get-togethers with friends. My birthday though, not so much. I guess I feel like I should have accomplished more since the last one. Am I the only one who struggles with the birthday blues? On the other hand, an important part of most birthdays is food. And I happen to like food! A lot. There's birthday cake waiting in the fridge, tonight I'll meet up with friends to have Indian food, and my aunt invited me for dinner tomorrow evening. On sunday I might need to take a very big walk....

I hope you'll have a fabulous weekend!

I wasn't too excited about my birthday this year either. But you're right about the food! I went out to eat twice this week and a friend baked me a cheesecake!
Love the happy pedestrian photo :)

  3. Happy Birthday, Marieken!

I'm not really into my birthday either but because I was conditioned not to make a big deal of it. I'm beginning to think we ought to celebrate while we can - life's too short!

Enjoy all the love that will be bestowed on you this weekend...and enjoy that big walk to work off all the calories ;)

  4. Happy Birthday my dear! I know what you mean, each year sounds a little older which means I feel as though I should have accomplished more. But I think we really need to cut ourselves a break. If we're doing what we enjoy and love each and every day, then we are doing quite alright for ourselves. I love the quote, "It's great to be lost in the right direction." :)

    1. Thank you! I didn't get to eat cheese, but one of my friends gave me a gift card from our local cheese shop :-) So, eating of cheese will be done in the near future!

  6. The happy looking guys are so fun! I completely forgot about carbon paper! I remember years ago how we'd use it between paper in the typewriter. And correcting all the mistakes I used to make on both copies!

  7. Happy birthday! Yes, I feel push pull about birthdays these past few years, but they are mostly good times since it's always a good excuse to see friends and go out to fun restaurants. I love those stamps btw - so gorgeous. Hoping you have a great time with you aunt!

  13. Happy birthday to you! Fun pictures from your week. I love that pedestrian. Some years I struggle with birthday blues, but I escaped them this year. I think I've found my secret is to not work that day!

    1. I hope this was the last year of birthday blues, and that I can dodge it next year. Maybe the not working might help!

  14. Happy Birthday! I love those mugs and the happy guys on the street. I don't make a big deal out of birthdays either. I try not to look at life that way...what I have accomplished by a certain age or date because it really doesn't matter in the end. I just focus on trying to do work that is meaningful to me in some way and maybe making things around me a little better than they were before. :)

    1. I pretend not to be really excited when I go thrifting, hoping it will make me find something, but it just doesn't work that way! And I do like celebrating other peoples' birthdays too.

  18. Oh boy! Why did I not visit you lately?!! I should have greeted you or made you feel special on your day. I was busy rushing work since I'm off to a week long break. But the truth is, I took home the work haha

Belated Happy Birthday dear Marieken! Despite knowing you online and for a few months, I already consider you as one of my rare friends here in the blogosphere. I feel connected with you. :) Wishing you all the best in life! May you be showered with all the love, happiness, creativity and more beautiful places to see.

Happy Birthday and wishing you more too :)

  20. Your snapshots of everyday life are so whimsical. Love it!
And happy belated birthday! I'm so sorry I missed it, but dinner with friends, especially Indian food sounds like a wonderful way to banish the birthday blues! I used to feel a little blue for the same reason, but now I just enjoy the day :)
