The one with the strawberry popsicles

I bumped into some super cute pink popsicles molds last week. Immediately childhood memories of warm summer nights, playing in the streets, enjoying sweet cold treats came to mind. I needed to get them, and made some popsicles the same evening. As a kid, we filled the molds with sweeter than sweet lemonade. These are a more adult-y and healthier version.

What you'll need:

  • popsicles molds (mine makes 6 popsicles, but the mixture could make about 10)
  • 400 grams of strawberries
  • a big cup of greek yoghurt
  • 5 big tablespoons of honey, or to taste

Wash the strawberries and remove the leafy tops

Puree the strawberries in your blender, and add the yoghurt and honey. Taste and add more honey if you don't think it's sweet enough. The strawberries I bought were pretty sweet, so five teaspoons of honey was enough for me.

Fill the molds with the mixture

I left them in the freezer over night

Enjoy!

I got these molds at Dutch store HEMA. They're € 1,50 and easy to use. After taking them out of the fridge, the popsicles were pretty easy to remove from the molds.

Do you like making your own popsicles? I've got one of them left, so I am in need of some ideas for making a new batch. What's your favourite recipe? Any flavour combinations I should try?

The one in Leeuwarden

In june I visited my friend R. in Leeuwarden, in the north of the Netherlands. It 's a 2,5 hour trainride, and I arrived at the end of the day. After sitting still for so long, it was nice to take a little walk before dinner. Ofcourse, my favourite parts were the old, mismatched houses and gorgeous doors. Oh, and the colourful flowers adorning the bridges crossing the canals.

Look at this happy looking yellow house! I'd love to know if it's this cheery on the inside too.

R. noticed some interested looking collections, like Spanish dancers and Snow White and her seven friends. These were in the same street, so we wondered if it was required to have a collection of some sorts, if you wanted to live here.

 Passing some hidden gardens

We also spotted some awesome street art. Walking makes hungry, so we had some tasty pizza and drinks after our walk.

The one with the things I liked this week (74)

How has your week been? Mine was pretty ok. I still get surprised by some of the amazing architecture in my home city that I discover on after work or weekend walks. This week I started watching 'the Following', which is pretty scary. It's like Criminal Minds, the kind of show I know I shouldn't be watching. Alone. At night.

The sun created some pretty awesome shadows, so I really needed to take a selfie. Shadow selfies are the kind of selfies I feel comfortable taking.

We're still in the race towards becoming (I can't help but reading this in Tyra Banks' voice) World Champion. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed tomorrow!

This awesome gift was given to me by my friends R+L+J. It's a shoe AND it's chocolate! Does it get any better than that?

Other than that, I treated myself to concert tickets for Dutch singer Dotan. I went thrift shopping yesterday and found the photo frames I have been eyeing for a while now. Only those were new and 5 times the price. And these are even prettier. Once they're cleaned up a bit, I might show them over here. I think they deserve to be seen :-)
My friend Mandy sent me a text message yesterday, if I wanted to go to Amsterdam this saturday. She won a workshop/photoshoot, that lasts all day. We also get to take pictures ourselves. It lasts pretty much all day (it involves food too!). I'm pretty anxious, because I hate having my pictures taken, but sometimes it's a good thing getting out of that comfort zone. And saying 'yes' to more things was one of my resolutions at the beginning of the year.
What are your plans? Anything special planned, or will you go with the flow and see where the weekend takes you? Whatever it is you'll be doing, have fun!

The one with the trainride

A little while ago I travelled from Leeuwarden to Utrecht by train with my friend R. It's about a two hour travel, and to pass time I snapped some shots. These are taken from inside the train with my mobile phone, so the quality is not all that. The landscape looks pretty awesome though, I sometimes forget that we live in a beautiful country!

When trains ride according to their schedule, and it's not rush hour, travelling by train is one of my favourite means of transportation. Not having to watch the road, listening to some music, reading a book, and being able to do some people watching is one of the things I like most about it. Do you travel by train often? Or do you prefer to go places by car?
