The one with a little trip to Utrecht

A couple of weeks ago I visited Utrecht with my mom. Our destination was Museum Catharijneconvent. The building where it is situated, is a medieval convent and it's amazing. The museum shows the past and present of christianity in the Netherlands. I was a bit afraid it would have been a bit dull. Boy, was I wrong! The way the art was presented, interactive with touchscreens and videos, made it all very interesting. We wandered around for a couple of hours, and before we knew it, the museum was closing its doors for the day. We definitely want to go back, and we'll make sure we'll be there early in the morning, so we have enough time to see everything. After being all cultural and things, we wandered around the city and did a bit of (window) shopping. I've found some interesting things, like Dora hanging around in a tree.

I hate having my picture taken, and I normally make sure that I get away when I see a camera. Today I made an exception.

If you're interested, more info on the museum can be found here. Do you like museumvisits?

The one with the taco blogger party

Today is unofficial, international taco day! A little while ago Paige from Little Nostalgia came up with a marvelous idea: to team up together with a bunch of bloggers and share our favourite taco recipes on the same day (which happens to be today). Also known as the taco blogger party.

What you'll need for the taco's:
  • 8 medium sized flour tortilla's
  • one package of ricotta
  • a bowl of grated cheese
  • a big handfull of arugula

What you'll need for the guacamole:

    • 1 avocado
    • 6 cherry tomatoes
    • 1/2 red onion
    • pepper
    • juice of half a lemon

I started by making the taco, which is just chopping and mixing the (guacamole) ingredients.

For the taco's I filled the tortilla's with the ricotta, arugola and the grated cheese. Fold them and give them the toaster treatment. That will take a couple of minutes.

The other recipes can be found here:

    Paige from Little Nostalgia
    Melissa from Hilltop Hausfrau
    Meg from 18 Preston
    Kristen from Milo and Molly
    Heidi from Rowhouse 14

Do you like making and/or eating taco's? What's your favourite taco recipe?

The one with static waves, scarf, sea dragon and stuffed mushrooms

Patiently waiting for new Andrew Belle music

I might have developed a bit of a scarf obsession

     A gorgeous plate, from Belgium

This recipe for stuffed mushrooms was made last year, and I need to make it again. Soon.

The one with a sunday walk

Each year in july, my hometown hosts the international Four Days Marches. Around 40.000 people from all over the world travel to Nijmegen and walk 30, 40 or 50 kilometers daily, for four days long. On the saturday before the marches, till the friday after, the are also all sorts of festivities throughout the city. Concerts, a fair, theatre, beer and lots of fatty foods. Last sunday I got up early to have a walk around town, before it was taken over by party people and sporty march participants. I took lose of photo's, here's a selection.

The one with an aztec brooch

    What you'll need:

    • bright nailpolish, I used 4 different colours
    • wooden oval, mine was 5 centimeters. I got it from this shop
    • tape
    • brooch pin
    • hobby glue
    • black marker, in the picture is a sharpie, but that one didn't really work as well as I hoped, so I used another one.
    • varnish

     Add tape

Paint, I also painted the sides. Each colour was applied three times.

     Remove tape

Paint some more, I left one part uncoloured

Glue the brooch pin to the back

Make patterns with your marker. I finished it with a layer of varnish.
