The one with a sharpie and a plate

I know I'm not the first one with a sharpie DIY, and that there must be thousands of these floating around on the internet. I hope no one will object to one more. In my opinion, the best DIY's are the easy ones, that don't take up a lot of your time and the ones that don't need lots of supplies to make. All you need for this one are a plate, a sharpie and an oven.

Start by making ovals

Make triangles

Don't forget to bake your plate for half an hour at 150ºC / 300ºF
I do my dishes the old fashioned way, but once baked, it should
be dishwasher-proof.

The one with the things I liked this week (part 35)

Things I liked this week were: bread, newly discovered street art, old fashioned mail and sunday tea with homemade goodies. They will probably appear next week on the blog. How was your week?

The one with five for fall + wanderlust

I tried to ignore it, but fall has started. Soup has been made and my hot water bottle has been used. I don't mind the soup part, but if there was a way to skip fall and winter, I would. I love wearing shorts, flipflops and leaving the house without having to wear a scarf, gloves and something to keep my ears from freezing off. I admit, there are some cute outfits and accessories to be found for the colder months. These five items are from Etsy, and as a bonus, I've added a newly discovered song, that has been on repeat for the last couple of days. Have you discovered any new music lately?

The one with the tomato and pepper soup

Fall has begun. I don't like saying goodbye to summer, and the only thing I like about fall, is that soupseason has started. Here's a recipe for tomato-pepper soup. Most recipes require to roast the pepper, and do the whole-cool down in a plastic bag-and peel thing. I've tried this once, and it was way too much work for me. I've experimented before with non-roasted peppers (I'm a bit of a lazy cook), and that works out fine too.

What you'll need (for four bowls):
  • 4 bell peppers
  • 4 big tomatoes
  • 1 cup full of cherry tomatoes
  • 1 small onions
  • half a pack of blue cheese
  • 1 litre of vegetable stock
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • olive oil, no need for the good stuff, it's just for stir frying

What you'll need to do:
Chop the onion, peppers and the big tomatoes in quarters, and the cherry tomatoes in half. Get a big soup pan on the heat and fry the onion softly in olive oil. Add the peppers and do some more frying. Then, add the vegetable stock and the tomatoes. Let this cook slowly, until the peppers are soft. This took about half an hour. Remove the pan from the heat and blitz the soup with a handheld mixer, and season with salt and pepper.

Serve the soup with the blue cheese.

The one with the things I liked this week (part 34)

This week I've learned that the word 'cool' is still cool! I hope it never goes out of style. Here are some of the things I liked this week (and were cool!).

The one with all the nature

Last weekend I left the comfort of the city (and my comfort zone) and take a walk and some photo's in the park. Most of my time is spend in the city. I love buildings, concrete, places where you can sit (on a comfy chair) and have a fresh cup of coffee, and I like shops. I don't need to go inside them, but it's nice to know that if I am in sudden need of a new pair of jeans, I can just go and get them. Camping's not for me, I prefer a hotel with a bed and a closet to hang my clothes. I don't like bugs and getting my shoes dirty. Two weeks ago, a bird pooped on my head (and not just a little bit of poop, it was the result of a very big meal), so I am not a big fan of those either. And outdoorsy is the last word my friends would use to describe me.

The one with a collection of cool

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Is it still cool to use the word cool? Or hasn't that been cool for a long time? Or is cool always cool? Could someone fill me in if 'cool' has been replaced? And if it has been, what is the new cool? Well, enough rambling (for now), without further ado: a collection of things that I like.

The one with the watermelonsalad

What you'll need (serves 4):
  • a big piece of watermelon
  • mint
  • 100 grams of feta cheese
  • 75 grams of black olives

What you'll need to do:
Well, no real cooking is required for this one (I'm a big fan of any recipe that doesn't result in me doing lots of dishes afterwards)! All that needs to be done, is to make some sort of cube shapes out of the melon and mix these with the feta cheese, the olives and finely chopped mint. Cheers!
