My kitchen is in need of a little lovin'. It has been calling my name for some time now. I'm not proud of it, but even though it's voice has been heard, I have been ignoring it. My kitchen is still pretty much the same since I got the key to my apartment 3 years ago. I promised myself to give it a makeover ever since. It did get a little bit of attention when I moved in. I don't know what the previous owners had been thinking, but one of the walls was a strange shade of bright orange. With orange not being my favourite colour at all, it was painted over in a bleu-ish grey. It's not really a space with personality (which reminds me of Karl Lagerfeld's quote: better a split personality, than no personality at all). Trying to get into the make-over mood and looking for inspiration, I searched Etsy for some items to cheer up a kitchen. Without further ado I present: the one with the kitchen goodies.
Do you like to give a new home a make over right away when you move in? Or are your intentions good like mine, meaning everything stays as it is? What kind of style are you digging? I like things to be simple and clean, with some colourful accessories. Maybe one of the walls might end up with a pop of colour. Have there been any home renovations or make overs at your place lately? I'd love to hear about your plans or experiences.
I like your additions. I am sure with your tlc your kitchen will look amazing.
ReplyDeleteI hope so, I just need to get started!
DeleteWhen I lived in the big city I tried to get the apartment to look like I wanted right from the start. I almost managed, except for the pale blue carpet, which unfortunately I wasn't allowed to remove. I love that tea towel and the step stool!
ReplyDeleteGreat quote for K.L. too :)
Karl is a very wise man. I have a documentary about him, I need to watch it again some time soon. Very entertaining!
DeleteI always have to change things around. It might take me a while to get everything done, but there's always a list of things to do. Your picks are great! They'll look great together if you end up buying a few of them. :-)
ReplyDeleteI wish I could get all of them! Them problem about making changes around the house is that I have two left hands and I am a major procrastinator...
DeleteTime flies, 3 years already?! I only miss the kitchen aid at your kitchen goodies wishlist ;)
ReplyDeleteI really need to have a wealthy man in my life ;-)
DeleteI adore that tea towel and the tarte plate is simply perfect! When we first moved into our flat we just painted the walls and fixed a few little bobs but with time we changed things that we didn't like. Kisses
ReplyDeleteThat plate is calling my name!
DeleteLooks like some fun things to add to the kitchen. I just love to add fun new touches to rooms! You really need to get that tart dish!
ReplyDeleteIt's high on my wishlist. I think that if it were mine, I would want to eat pie every day!
DeleteThose lamps in the last picture are beautiful! I'm the same as you. I wanted to do something to change up our kitchen apartment but never have.
ReplyDeleteAren't they chic? I removed the lamp the previous owners left behind and not bothered to replace it. So I do need some sort of extra light :-)
DeleteI am slow about changing things, so like you my place would probably still be the same if I had my own space. I do prefer simple and clean though. For colors I like mainly neutrals with pops of color.

I love that pops of colour can be easyly replaced when I've had enough of them. And I really need to get going and make some changes!
DeleteI love the whole set. As for kitchen, we have a boring one and I am ready for some brand new. I am, never thought I'd say this, dreaming of a new house! As in not old and characterful, but new and plain.....and not requiring endless renovation. That way I can make it all look lovely without the worn out feeling.
ReplyDeleteI love old houses with a lot of personality, but having two left hands, it might not be the perfect fit for me.
DeleteI love all these items I love the kitchen poster! You have such great taste xx

Thanks Lucy!
DeleteWe don't have any theme at all when it comes to our house. I'm so lazy. I do cook a lot, so if I could re-decorate, I'd probably opt for the old country style, with wooden flooring and old-style stove:) I love that tea towel you pictured....welll, actually, they're all pretty cool:D
ReplyDeleteI like cooking too, but I don't feel like spending lots of time in the kitchen. Maybe I make over might help ;-)
DeleteI'd love to repaint our whole house, but the thought is so overwhelming! Best of luck with your kitchen :)
ReplyDeleteI love the tea towel and those concrete lamps!
Thanks, I can imagine after making creating your new workspace from scratch you might not want to dive immediately into the next project :-)
DeleteI change things around, but over time. I love your etsy finds - the tea towel is so cute! Make sure to post pictures after your makeover.
ReplyDeleteOnce I get things going I will, I always love reading posts like that on other blogs.
DeleteThis reminds me how uninspired I am right now by my dining nook...it so needs TLC. I don't even have a table and I moved in a year ago! I've been looking at Etsy for furniture actually even though I can't really afford it.. i'd love to buy some of my investment pieces off there :)
ReplyDeleteNice pieces! In my case, I prefer to settle things on their own first or leave things as is. After some time, I find inspiration and along the way, I would love to figure out what suits for everything.
