The one in Amsterdam

A couple of weeks ago I met my friends Hans and Alyssa in Amsterdam. The three of us know each other from a language course we did in 2008 in Salamanca. Hans is from the Netherlands and Alyssa is from the United States. She was visiting some big European cities last month, and one of them was Amsterdam. It was so much fun to see them again. I see Hans about two times a year, and he likes old fashioned mail just as much as I do, so we often exchange postcards. Hans also adds the most beautiful stamps from all across the world to his mail.

Before we met, I wanted to visit a store that sells all sorts of pretty paper and other crafty things. Been looking forward to that for some time. So I was pretty disappointed to see it was closed on sundays! I guess it must be about the only shop in Amsterdam that doesn't open its doors every day. Well, I do have a good excuse for another visit ;-)

This picture wasn't taken in a museum, but in the staircase of Zara! I didn't get to shop for things to get my DIY on, but I did treat myself to some of my favourite t-shirts from Zara :-)

The seagulls are amazingly big in Amsterdam!

There's a bar in Amsterdam named Sherlocked. Talking about Sherlock, who else can not wait for the new season to arrive?

So, how are all of you doing? How summer in your corner of the world? Have you been on a holiday, or were any cool day trips taken? I'm curious to hear what you are up to!

The one after while

It's been a while since my last post. One week after posting, my granny passed away, and ever since, I haven't really felt like blogging. And after that, I didn't know where or when to start, or what to say. I still haven't really figured out what it is I wanted to say. Anyway, I do have tons of photo's to share, so I am planning to post those some time soon. I've really missed reading updates on the blogs of my blog-buds. So now you know where I've been, and I hope to see you again very soon :-)

The one with the things I liked this week 152

Visiting granny, who got a new game of Scrabble. A special edition for people who are visually impaired. You can not see it in this picture, but it is huge! (I won, but I think she may have let me win....)

Enjoy your sunday! I'm off for a high tea with Mandy this afternoon :-)

The one with colour

I don't know about you, but by now I've really had enough of grey days. Especially when those grey days are just grey, but rainy too! Temperatures have dropped this week, but things will look sunnier when the weekend comes. Until then, I'll keep procrastinating and looking for pretty colourful things. Here are some of the cute, bright things that caught my eye.

Blue eye earrings

Leather backpack

woo hoo print

Vintage lavender lamp

Here is some of things I liked since the last time I posted one of these updates. You may have seen some of these photos on Instagram.

The one with the things I liked this week (149 & 150)

First of all, Happy New year! I am enjoying some days off of work, and will be getting back to normal life tomorrow. Normally I don't really do New Years resolutions, but I am contemplating making a list this year. Instead of resolutions, I'd rather like to see them as plans. Resolutions do have a bit of a  negative feel, I think. One thing I plan on doing, is giving a bit more love to the blog than I did last year. Together with that, I intend on catching up more on my favourite blogs. They teach me things, and show me lots of lovely places I will most probably not get to travel to in real life.
My last post was two weeks ago, and I've gathered quite an amount of photos of things I liked. Do you have any special plans / resolutions, or things you are looking forward to?

Wouldn't it be fun to have decorations all year round, not just in december?

Traditionally, we eat 'oliebollen' in the Netherlands on New Years eve. Basically they are fried dough balls. You can also get them with apple, and with raisins (which are my faves). They are served with a lot of powdered sugar.
