The one with all the textures

The first weekend of this year, I visited Utrecht with my mom. I already did a post with pictures of the awesome things we've seen on our city walk. Our destination that day was Centraal Museum, one of their current exhibitions is named 'Monsters in Fashion'. Some of the monsters were actually creeping me out a bit, outfits made of leather, or pvc, some of them with scary looking masks. There were even two with the heads of the mannequins growing in dollhouses, that reminded me of the first season of American Horror Story. I was able to sleep at night though because some of the creations were colourful and were monsters of a more friendly kind. Mom also posted about our museum visit over here, I 'stole' the fifth photo from her blog.

The one with chocolate and oranges

I wanted to make a little something over the holidays to take with me on my visit to my granny. I decided it needed to be sweet and easy to make. We both enjoy a nice piece of chocolate, so I made these chocolate covered oranges to accompany our Christmas coffee.

What you'll need:
  • 160 grams of orange peel
  • 200 grams of dark chocolate
  • optional: sea salt

What you'll need to do:

Melt the chocolate in a bain marie

Dip the oranges in the melted chocolate

Oops...

I added a bit of sea salt to half of the oranges and
let them harden on a sheet of baking paper.

The one with the things I liked this week (part 49)

Temperatures are dropping, so a hot cocoa was in order. This week I received an order from Etsy shop Atéa Lane I've ordered packaging supplies from this shop a couple of times now, and Kay Elisabeth always adds some paper goodies to my order. My friend Mandy went on a shopping spree a while ago and got me some nice extra warm socks. Hooray for Mandy, and warm socks. Gift wise it was a very good week, because I also got a new cookbook.

A cooking experiment took place last weekend, not from the new book, but a recipe I pinned a while ago. Contrary to most pinned recipes, this one actually got cooked. I really had intentions to cook healthier in the new year. But when Jamie Oliver tells you to eat pasta with cream, mascarpone and parmesan cheese, you listen. At least I do.

Also, Zara started it's sale after Christmas, and it came to mind that the last addition to my wardrobe was on a day when I was able to sit outside in the sun. For at least 3 months I have been spending most of my spare time together with a blanket and hot water bottle on my couch, so I thought a little something for my closet was allowed.

The one with free shipping

Lately I've been adding some new items to my Society6 shop. Also, I adjusted some images, so now they are not only available as print, but as other goodies as well, like postcards, bags, and pillows. Society6 offers free shipping through sunday and this promotion is only available when using this link. It's valid for most items, except for framed prints, stretched canvases and throw pillows with insert.

The one with the glitter trinket dish DIY

What you'll need:
  • glitter, I used silver, pink and purple glitter
  • glue
  • a brush
  • a small (old) dish, bowl, saucer or plate
  • varnish

What you'll need to do:

Pour the glitter in a bowl

If you're using different colours, give them a good stir

Cover your work space with paper, things can get a bit messy.
Apply the glue with your brush

Pour the glitter over the bowl

Let dry for a couple of hours and apply a thin layer of (spray) varnish.
Use the paper that covers your work space as a funnel to pour back the
glitter that didn't stick to the bowl.

The one with the things I liked this week (part 48)

For a minute, seeing this scene on the streets, I thought I was walking around in a charming
little town somewhere in the Mediterranean. Until I couldn't feel my gloveless fingers (to take
this picture) anymore and realized I was walking aroung in my hometown instead.

Love these mismatched houses
