Just last week I wrote about my sort-of-new-years-resolution that was trying out more new things, and saying 'yes' more often. When these two come together with food and friends, I'm a happy camper. My friend L. suggested having a drink at this new place, named Fika. They just opened their doors in my hometown Nijmegen.
'Fika' is a concept in Swedish culture, and the peeps over at Wikipedia are much better at explaining what it is, so here's where you can read more about it. We met last saturday for drinks. Coming straight from work, I could use a bite too! By the by, this is not a sponsored post. I thought it might be fun to show you a bit more about my hometown (besides doors and streetart). You know, just in case you ever get to visit.
Both of us opted for the 'sweet Fika', which consists of a pot of tea of your choice, cheesecake with fresh strawberries and blackberries, a cinnamon roll, and whipped cream. There are also lots of savoury goodies. I am sure we will go again and try some of those!
You can find Fika in Nijmegen, Van Broeckhuysenstraat 5.
That cheesecake looks so yummy....nomnom....:D

The fika concept is right up my alley! This place looks really sweet. The light fixtures are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds delicious, and I love a good concept eatery. All the fruit on the cake looks so perfect for a summer treat!X
ReplyDeleteMy stepmom is Swedish so we've done (had?) Fika! This place looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great concept! I wish we had something like that here, but everybody is always rushing around. The decor is right up my alley, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI just read up on Fika and I think I'm a fan! Sounds like a great concept. I'd probably go for the savory choice, though, because I'm really not used to sweets!
