A couple of weeks ago my mom and I had a little field trip to the former Honig factory in our hometown Nijmegen. It was my moms first visit and I went there last year. In case you're interested, I did a post about it here. Back in the days it was a factory where ingredients for soups were made and since the factory closed down, it became a 'cultural hotspot'.
Nowadays it houses lots of small (creative) businesses. There's an art gallery, a
brewery, parties are being held, music is made and if all this makes
you hungry, no problemo, there's food too! I love old industrials buildings like this, so I apologize for how picture heavy this post is. It's right up my alley, with cool details and pretty street art. And yes, I even managed to squeeze in a door ;-)
Still not quite sure how I feel about these bird printed leggings. I get them over three years ago, and I think this was the second time I wore them. But life is too short to wear boring clothes, right?
Love these colours and textures!
And last but not least, a door!
We also had coffee (accompanied by something sweet) over at the factory, but I think I'll share those photo's in seperate post. If you made it this far, I hope you liked these photo's, I may have gone a bit wild with my camera...
I love places like this! Usually, over here, they are found in big cities and I always make a point to visit. Glad you had a nice time with your Mom. I think your leggings are cute!
ReplyDeleteMarieken, don't apologize for all these pics. They're lovely. I love how they turned the old factory into this. Reminds me of a spot here in Toronto called the Distillery. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved this amazing adventure! Esp the lovely 'artworks that you captured'. Nice to hear that is not some abandoned place but a hub for creative clan!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool place! I love it when old buildings are revitalized into creative centers. There's an old church near my house that was turned into a music venue. :-)
ReplyDeleteVery cool! I love when they repurpose old factories and warehouses into creative spaces. Great pics! :)
ReplyDeleteVery cool! We have lots of old factory buildings that have been renovated into all sorts of spaces in the area. One of the art centers for classes is in one of them. They make for such an awesome atmosphere! The leggings look so fun. You are right, life it to sort not to have fun with it!
ReplyDeleteSuch an awesome space! And yes: Life is too short to wear boring clothes. Have I ever told you about my parrot pants? I put those on when I feel I'm going to need an extra happy dose...
ReplyDeleteWow! What a cool space! I wish I could do there. (And I love your leggings!)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a cool place! A lot of businesses in my town are in these rows of warehouses. As in, literally the "downtown" area has all these two story warehouses full of everything from tattoo parlors (very popular in Hawaii) to a super sweet local knit shop! So strange. This warehouse looks much neater!
ReplyDeleteWow! Fascinating tour, thank you for sharing this!
ReplyDeleteIt's so good to see old buildings finding a new life, with such energy! The street art you find always makes me smile!
ReplyDeleteWow, it looks like a really cool place! x
ReplyDeleteWhat's behind the door? I'm curious.
ReplyDeleteRather than turning to an idle building, I love that it became to a cultural hot spot. Is there a chance it will come back?
