The one with Valentine's day

Because today is Valentine's day, I am posting this one again. Why? Because I think Valentine's day shouldn't have to be about fancy, expensive gifts and I wanted to show you that it's super easy to make a gift yourself. And what says I love you more, than a cute little DIY? This project only costed me a plate and a Sharpie (the one that has 'paint' written on it) that I already had. Besides that, all you need is a little bit of time!

Start by making ovals

Make triangles

Don't forget to bake your plate for half an hour at 150ºC / 300ºF

I do my dishes the old fashioned way, but once baked, it should

be dishwasher-proof.

The one with the glitter vases DIY

I have a love for all things shiny and glittery. With the holidays getting closer, I feel like I can stuff my home with sparkly stuff, without any judgement. Back in january I made this glitter trinket dish, and had some leftover glitter. Except for shiny things, I love to make good use of my craft supplies and use up all leftovers. The vases are small treasuries acquired at a thriftshop visit. 

What you'll need

• glitter in a small bowl
• glue
• a brush
• tape
• a large piece of paper to cover your workspace and prevent it from getting glitterfied

 

 What you'll need to do:

Tape

Cover the bottom part of the vases with glue

Dip the vases in the bowl with glitter

Let them dry, I placed them on a coin, to keep them from getting glued to the paper

Carefully remove the tape, and you're done!

The one with the hamsa bracelet DIY

Last sunday I wanted to make some quick and easy armcandy for summer. I've been eyeing pretty hamsa beads over at Atelier Luna for a while now and finally figured out what to do with them. This project is pretty easy, not time consuming at all, and very inexpensive (one bracelet costs about 1 euro) to make. I guess (and hope) the pictures are pretty much self explanatory. The hardest thing about this DIY was actually finding out how it's 'ingredients' are named in English. Of some of them, I don't even know their official Dutch names. Like the crimp covers, it took me about an hour of research to discover that a crimp cover, is named a crimp cover. Enough writing, let's do some crafting!

For one bracelet you'll need:

• 1 eyepin
• 1 crimp cover
• 2 x 25 centimeters of elastic cord
• 1 hamsa bead
• 1 tiny bead to fit inside the hamsa
• 2 pliers

Stick the pin in the hamsa and add the bead before sticking all the way through

use your pliers to make an eye on the other side of the pin as well

Attach one of the pieces of cord on one side

Do the same on the other side with the second piece of cord

Measure around your wrist and make a double knot

trim excess cord and cover the knots with the aforementioned crimp cover

Theme: Valentine's Day themed
Challenge: use a maximum of 4 materials

What you'll need:

• heart confetti
• hole puncher
• baker's twine
• washi tape

What you'll need to do:

punch the hearts

Attach the hearts to the twine

stick the garland to your wall with washi tape

ta-da

The one with the paper ornaments

Earlier this month, my blog bud Mia from MossyJojo asked me to join in on a DIY party. I love parties, and I love making things. So, yes please! For this DIY post I made paper ornaments.

The theme: Christmas
The challenge: up to 4 materials only

What you'll need:

• paper strips, I used strips of semi transparant paper, that are 30 x 2,5 cm (around 12 x 1 inch)
• twine
• needle
• thread

What you'll need to do:

These are super easy to make, I think the pictures don't need any explanation.

I think they needles doesn't count as one of the four materials, so I guess I was allowed to make these too. Before cutting the paper up in strips, I made lines with a ruler, added some neon washi tape, and wrote some titles of Christmas songs on the paper. I also experimented a bit with different sizes.
