The one with the things I liked the week before Christmas

I thought it might be fun to do a 'things I liked' post with a Christmas theme. Since vacuuming is not my hobby, and my apartment is on the small side, I choose not to have a real tree, but a washi-one. It's decorated with Holy Mary's, old cards, a tree made of fabric, a dried flower another Postcrosser sent me, a feather and the paper ornaments I blogged about earlier this week. I did enjoy a real, more traditional tree over at my aunt's.

  1. I love your alternative Christmas tree!
I don't have a real tree because of the cats :)

  2. I must admit we still haven't put a Christmas tree up. That's because we're considering a few untraditional options, among which your, or even a stack of books decorated with glittering lights!

  3. I think your washi tree is perfect! And very inventive! All the photos are really stylish--nice to see so many different approaches to decorating.

    1. Nope, no donuts. Some sort of filled chocolates. It's a good thing they're only available around the holidays. They are very, very bad!

  6. I still love your own version of a Xmas tree! It's personalised and best of all, handmade!

    1. Those are actually filled chocolates, but I wouldn't mind having a donut too ;-)

  8. Marieken, I agree with the comments above. I think your Christmas tree is very creative. We don't have a real one either. We just have a two-ft one that I let the kids decorate. I'm too lazy to get a big one:P

  9. That is such a cute idea! I almost went with a small tree but they were just as expensive as a large tree so big tree it is!

  10. Love your tree.
Decorating: I hang the lovely wreath that my sister in law sends every year. It stays outside so no dropping pine needles in the house and I tape up all the Christmas cards I get around the doorway to the living room. Just a touch of festiveness.
Cooking: I make two Caribbean Fudge pies, one for us and one to take to annual dinner with friends. Must have too much chocolate.
Eating: We go to the Waffle House for breakfast on Christmas Day. This is the south y'all.
Low key, minimal fuss holiday. Perfect!
